Day 5 : Fes - Marrakech 500 km

Today we take a scenic route from Fes, through the Middle Atlas to Marrakech, primarily through small roads.

First the landscape is dominated by cedar and oak trees, where tailless monkeys (magots) live. It is worthwhile to stop at the Oum er-Rbia a famous river in Morocco.

On the road lies Agualmane Azigza, at more than 1.800 meters. The lake is surrounded by cedars and weeding. Along the road to Khenifra are a few lime kilns.

After you travel to Khenifra via El Kebah along a country road to El Kasbah Tadla Ksiba. In Kasbah Tadla is an old adobe bridge over the Oum er-Rbia and the old Kasbah is definitely an attraction (not yet discovered by many touroperators).

From Kasbah Tadla we travel through to Beni-Mellal and then drive to the lake Bin el-Ouidane via a road with many curves and beautiful vistas. At the lake, turn towards Azilal to the beautiful waterfalls of Ouzoud. Just before the waterfall you can see a number of water-powered grain mills.

Further in direction to Marrakech is Demnate. Here the river Oued Ifri made a natural rock bridge in the limestone. In the cave bats and swifts are nesting. The cave has the shape of Africa. In the neighborhood would be footprints of dinosaurs and small eggs of large dinosaurs found.
